Iron Braydz says MOVE!!!

MOVE!!!! Jus Move…!!!

That is the line that sums up the need to listen to this track by fellow DJ/Presenter Mr Iron Braydz!

This guy is not only a MC he is also a lyricist and a producer (amongst other things).
He displays a passion and energy that is second to none!

Iron Bradyz is a firm fixture on the UK Hip Hop scene and has wowed audiences on many an occasion including a stint at the Royal Festival Hall alongside a 27…that’s right…a 27 piece orchestra!  Imagine that!

Not only can Braydz get down with an orchestra, he can also hold his own lyrically with an intelligent, witty and thought provoking style of flowing.

Braydz has had the privilege of doing his thing alongside Hip Hop heavyweights including Public Enemy and R-ZA (Wu Tang) – to name a few.

Iron Braydz requires only one thing from you…..and that’s to sit up, pay attention and recognise!!!

Watch out for The Devil May Cry Project landing anytime soon!

In the meantime….Jus Move- and check out the track below…be careful not to head knock too hard tee hee

Condom Facts!

Following the show last Monday, I have had some very interesting feedback particularly re the Condom info and facts so, I thought I’d put them all up on the blog so you can read at your own leisure (or not lol)

**********************************************************
During the show, we looked at the history of Durex:

-        1929  Durex is born and stands for Durability, Reliablity and EXcellence.
-        1930’s launch of latex.  Prior to this, condoms were imported.  Durex started manufacturing condoms using the latest dipping technology.
-        1953  Quality control.  Durex focused on the R for reliability –  they introduced electronic testing for every condom
-        1969  Shaping up. Durex pushed boundaries and developed condoms that were shaped more towards the shape of a man’s penis!
-        1974  Lubing up.  Durex introduced the addition of spermicidal lubricant.
-        2000  Pleasuremax, the first textured condom designed to stimulate both man and women was introduced.
-        2008  In response to the shocking statistic that only 1 in 3 women always or almost always orgasm, Durex brought Play O an orgasm enhancing gel that makes you super sensitive!!!
-        2009 New play vibration twinkle introduced…love toy (work it out).

*******************************************************************
We also looked at some of the Durex condom choices:

-        Pleasuremax – ribs / dots for extra stimulation
-        Extra Safe - slightly thicker with extra lube
-        Tingle – coated with tingly lube for extra thrill
-        Fetherlite - for that natural feel

*************************************************************

We also discussed a few things that needed to be bared in mind when using condoms:

-        Condoms are 98% effective when used properly
-        Careful not to tear with fingernails
-        STis can be passed though touch as well so get that condom on asap
-        Ensure teat is squeezed so no air gets locked inside
-        Keep squeezing as you roll the condom down
-       Finally, after all is said and done, get rid!!!

*********************************************************************
And finally, we looked at some fast facts about condoms…

-        Much of the technology used by condom manufacturers today was invented by Japanese companies.
-        It is believed that the condom was invented in ancient Egypt where tribesmen wore cylindrical sacks to protect their members from insect bites.
-        15th Century Italian anatomist Gabriele Falloppio documented his method of wrapping the penis with linen sheaths to prevent syphilis.

*******************************************************
So there you have it…big shouts to Henri for his input in the show and remember you can join me every MONDAY at 9pm for another instalment of the Women’s Health & Lifestyle show on Bang103.6FM

Apple iPad....I NEED one in my life!

Oooo Oooo Oooo...does the sound of the Apple iPad make you feel excited??? If it doesn’t..it should!

Why?  Because the iPad is about to change the way we listen to music forever!
(Just like the iPod did).

Introduced only yesterday (27th Jan 2010), the iPad is described as; a tablet computer that's essentially an oversize, souped-up version of the iPod Touch or iPhone’(MTV.com).

You can watch HD movies, full YouTube clips and see web footage all on a 9.7 inch touch screen!

If that doesn’t do it for you….check this…the iPad ranges from 16GB – 64GB memory capacity and is open to third party applications, just like the iPhone AND is jam packed full of crazy amounts of features!

Sold to the lady on the blog….I WANT ONE!!!

Nas and reggae!

Nas has gone all roots on us…well sort of!

16 or so years on from arguably Nas’ best album, Illmatic…Nas has decided to flip the script.

His new album Distant Relatives features a track with Damian Jnr Gong Marley and he claims, `Reggae and hip-hop are cousins.'

This isn’t the first time Nas has gone ‘roots’…he actually featured on Damian Marley’s Welcome to Jamrock and says he loves Reggae – oooooo!

So…not only is Nas getting ‘bashy’, he has also decided part of the proceeds from the album Distant Relatives will be donated to the projects of Africa.

Hmmmmmmmmm….check out the album!

Amber's erm...ensemble!

Wow, Kanye’s missus Amber Rose is showing no signs of slowing down in the random fashion stakes!

At the Cerruti Men fashion show in Paris, Amber donned a nude bodysuit underneath a gown which can only be described as ladder like!

Check out the ensemble below:

(Check Kanye's shoes....ee eeeeee)!

My thing is…yes Amber has a good shape but surely, she could dress it better….wait, isn’t there a stylist in the mix?

If there isn’t, the certainly needs to be!

Note to Kanye (perfect Valentines pressie): Get stylist for Amber!

CBB's Nicola T and Coolio - Dance?

What happens when one Celebrity Big Brother contestant meets up with another?

They make music of course!!! Or apparently anyway…

Nicola T (currently in the CBB house) will allegedly team up with previous contestant, Coolio!

The single Drunk…(how appropriate) is a dance track and will be out at the beginning of March this year!

Hmmmm, dance track….Coolio….Nicola T????

Naaaah…not convinced!!!

Ludacris - Battle of the Sexes!

Ludacris is taking the term Battle of the Sexes to a whole new level…a compilation album level that is.

Luda has teamed up with some of the hottest females on the scene, including; Lil Kim, Nicky Minaj and Ciara (to name a few) as well as some of the hottest males such as Ne-Yo…all on one album??? Guaranteed to be hot!!!

The first single (and my HOT track of the moment) is, How Low Can You Go and currently stands at #1 on the the iTunes Hip Hop charts.

This album is set to be available around March time and from what I have already heard, it is going to be HARD!

Bear in mind, this is Luda’s 7th official solo album so trust me, this guy knows how to bang out those beats!

For just a taste of things to come, check out the track below:

Wow, Jay Z is a gooner!!!

That’s right, Hova is an Arsenal fan!

Apparently, he wants to treat the whole team to a luxury trip to New York and he is going to pick up the tab for everything.

Recently, Jay was offered VIP tickets to watch a match with his favourite team and desperately wants to return the favour…

In the Sun newspaper, Jay Z was quoted to have said: "I want them to party in New York, my city. I will look after them and make sure that they have some amazing nights out."
He went on to say: "The next time I'm playing in England I would like the Arsenal players to come and watch my gig and then come backstage afterwards, I know how hard professional sportsmen work so I want to offer an incentive for the guys."

Well excuuuuuuse me Mr Carter…got money to waste?

I can help you dispose of some…no problemo!!!

R.I.P Apache!

Just wanna take a moment to think about the family and friends of rapper Apache!

Apache (born Anthony Teaks) passed away 22nd January 2010.

Apache was one of the 3 original rappers in Flavor Unit along with Queen Latifah.

The crew consisted of the following: Naughty by Nature and Nikki D (to name but a few).

Not only was Apache the thread that kept the crew together, he also went on to collaborate with Tribe Called Quest and Tupac, again to name but a few!

Apache was probably best know for his banger, Gangsta B*tch!

Check it out below:

Trina helps Haiti!

With the number of fatalities growing by the day in devastated Haiti, it is inevitable there will be many parents that have lost their children and equally, children that have become parent less.

The need to help settle these ‘lost’ children will become great over the next few months… there will be a need for adoptions to be made and generally, care plans put in place for these ‘orphans’.

Step in celebville, first up Trina!

Miami rapper Trina, has sought to get involved with the effort to aid the millions of people impacted by the earthquake that measured 7 on the Richter scale.

Trina said to AllHipHop.com: “I would like to contribute on a higher level for more personal reasons in addition to being ready to raise/nurture a child; by being involved on a day to day basis”.

Trina went on to say: “The tragic and untimely list of events that have happened in Haiti even before the recent ‘Earthquake’ have made me realized how blessed I am as a individual and I want to share that with a child that is a victim in this disturbing time”.

Apparently Trina has family in Haiti which makes her interest a personal one but I certainly believe she has a point and I am all for celebrities helping as much as they can…we all need to pull together and make as much of an effort as we can…in our own little ways!

My take on CBB so far...!

I have to confess, this year I have been unable to resist the calling of Celebrity Big Brother!

What a show it has been so far eh…?

The combination of celebs in there guarantees entertainment.

For starters, you have Sov aka Lady Sovereign…what’s her story? What’s with the name? What’s with everything? Why? Why? Why?

She comes in the house and at first she actually seemed OK but suddenly, almost as if out of nowhere, she decides to switch and act like a complete and utter twonk!

Right??? Or did I miss a trick…was she always so wrong??

Alex!!!! Oh Alex aka Mr Katie ‘Jordan’ Price.

Does this man have the ability to refrain from mentioning Jordan.

I mean for crying out loud we all know you are an item…what is it? Are you trying to penetrate Dane’s mind and ring home the fact that she dumped the zero and got with the hero???(In his mind of course)…what is it?

As for this whole cage fighting malarkey….let it go – I mean if you tend to lose something more than you win…that to me is a sure sign of letting it go. Keep it as a hobby…yes…a way to keep fit….yes but a profession…NO!!!

Vinnie on the other hand….Quality!

I have to commend him on the way he so casually guns down Alex and the best part is Alex can’t even see it!

I also love the way all the other celebs tend to heed his words and almost worship him! They do don’t they??? Well kind of…

He likes to twist things and make up stories but every single time, they all fall for it – hook, line and blimmin sinker!

TV gold!

Sisqo! Arrrrr lil Sisqo (and I mean lil)…isn’t he sweet???

He actually comes across as a really sweet guy and heck…dude can sing!

He seems to be able to see the wood through the trees but plays it down.

A clear contender for the CBB title methinks… I predict it will be between him and Vinnie (this stage).

Stephanie Beacham and Ivana…two luuuuurvies!

I can’t go into overdrive on these two…that would be just plain disrespectful!

Not surprised Katia has gone, she did nothing apart from smoke, lead Jonas on and winge.

Jonas…well, for starters he needs to get a back bone, keep his clothes on and free the masturbation talk and farts!

Dane…oop – nearly forgot he was in there lol

Nicola T…surely she’s pretending to be that thick and Stephen…oh Stephen – what a funny dude..I just dig the way he breaks people off… like BIG time then justifies his rinses using the Bible…quality!

Who else…Heidi…oh yeah she’s gone too but she was funny, I think they should have kept her in, she looks like she doesn’t play…I’m sure there would have been a few more arguments if they let her stay and wouldn’t it have been funny to watch her try to move to Vinnie and get blasted????

Whatta shame she’s gone lololol.

Anyways, rant over….

Michael Jackson WAS murdered???

Just as I thought…we can conclude Michael Jackson was in fact murdered!

According to his death certificate (which was amended once before), the cause of death has been confirmed as Homicide, death by acute Propofol intoxication due to an intra-venous injection by another, to be precise!

So what next?

Well rumours are flying that Dr Conrad Murray is trying to build a defence but the prosecution feel they have enough to convict!

Also, it appears that much of the documentation has been kept a secret…the question for me is – why???

Watch this space!

Let's Talk About Pep!

Oop Oop…Pepa’s back but this time without the Salt….boom boom!

No seriously, Pepa, formally of Salt & Pepa, will be back on the scene sooner than you think….next week in fact!

Pep will be debuting her new reality show, Let’s talk about Pep in the next few.

The show will follow Pepa around, see her interact with her friends and document her hunt for that special guy (she finally got the hint and left Treach to me….joke) LOL

Actually speaking of Treach, Pepa has also recently released her autobiography which details her life in the group and her relationship with Treach.

Apparently, the book kinda exposes him….naughty naughty!

So yep, that’s Pepa, back on your screens on Monday 11th Jan 2010 (VH1).

Check it out….

New Year's Resolutions anyone???

OK, so we are 5 days deep into a new year, no wait….a new decade in fact and people don't seem to be easing up on what we should be doing and our resolutions.

Normally I don’t do the whole New Year's Resolution bit because I believe we should always strive to better ourselves but to do it in a way where there is no pressure….in our own way and of course, when the time is right.

I have to say, this year is no different.

I see the term ‘New Year's Resolution’ as almost an excuse to do things in excess i.e. more over the Christmas season…think about it, the usual philosophy is: if I eat more then my New Years resolution can be to cut down- why???

My thing is, eat and enjoy, then gradually return to normality, incorporate some healthier options and as I said, opt to better yourself slowly (it lasts longer).

Those that decide to set New Year's resolutions often give up after a while because, they have not understood the reason why they feel they have to resolve to change something in the first place– Habit!

It all boils down to habit!

Habit is what makes us overeat, habit is what makes us over drink… habit is what also makes us continue to smoke, swear and NOT exercise!

To effectively change, we must deal with habits.

One habit at a time:

As changing habits can be hard, dealing with a habit at a time could prove more effective.
For example, if you always have a cigarette when you wake up in the morning, try and replace that cigarette with something else i.e. a 5 minute deep breathing exercise.

This will allow your mind to be focused on something else other than the fact you are not having a fag!

Keep this up and eventually (fingers crossed), your need to have a cigarette first thing in the morning should diminish!

Doubling up good habits:

Once you have your first good habit underway, try adding to it i.e. after your 5 minute breathing exercise in the morning, maybe incorporate some physical exercise into your morning regime.

This will not only make you feel better but you may find, the less you smoke – the easier and more enjoyable the exercise….all good pointers toward quitting smoking!

I think it is important to note, you must always put your new habit first until it becomes second nature.
Never allow anything else to come in the way as this may then become a habit!

As with any resolution or change, it is important to be realistic about your aim, outline how you intend to achieve your goal i.e. you are planning on eating less chocolate, ensure there is ample fruit available to counteract those hunger pangs!

You should be able to talk about your change with friends or family.
If your resolution was to go to the gym and get fit, talk about how fit you feel and of course how good you look!

This will help reinforce in your mind, how well you are doing.

You must reward yourself:

If you set yourself a goal, there must be points along the way that you acknowledge your progress.

My reward scheme is simple, every pound in weight I loose, buy a new pair of shoes!
JOKE!!!! But you get what I mean don’t you??? LOL

Finally, stick to the plan, keep trying and don’t beat yourself up if you lapse a little.

If you eat that bit of cake and you know you shouldn’t, don’t worry, ignore it and continue on with the healthy eating.
There are always set backs in life and during change, believe me, set backs come a dime a dozen!!

Looking back, that’s some pretty good advice don’t you think???

Don’t forget tonight, I will be discussing New Year's Resolutions and change on my show tonight…so check in at 9pm UK time by clicking the link: http://www.bangradio.fm/

Beyonce in Trinidad!

Waaaaah...it's official - this year Beyonce is heading down to Trinidad & Tobago!

Yep, tickets have already gone on sale for the Beyonce live in concert scheduled for 18th February down at the Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain.

The concert is tipped to be a road block with individual tickets for general admission priced at around £43 and prices for VIP starting from approximately £98 up to around £157….woah!

If you live in T&T or happen to be there on or around Feb18th AND you wanna see Bey do her thang....get to steppin'...tickets are moving QUICK!

Confirmed: Drake teams up with Jay!

Looks like 2010 is set to be another HOT year for Drake!

Drake has confirmed all rumours and declared he has in fact teamed up with the power house that is Jay-Z to collaborate.

He went on to say, the track Light It Up is complete and will feature on his debut LP, Thank Me Later.

Looking forward to that one….

In the meantime, check out the track below.
It has to be one of my faves from 2009:

Usher's Self Destruct Leaked!

How annoying must it be to know you have worked your butt off…putting in hours, blood, sweat and tears literally only, to find your hard work has been leaked?

Well Usher knows that feeling too well…
Usher’s sixth studio album, Self Destruct appeared online at least a month before it was due.

Needless to say, this has thrown a spanner in the works and no doubt label execs at LaFace records will seriously have to rethink the project!

Not a particularly great start to the new year for Usher hey?

Oh well…at least he managed to get rid of one hindrance before the year was out…….!

********************************

Dane & Alex brawl at Jordan's NYE party

Oh dear, talk about starting off the new year with a bang!

It is alleged Katie (Jordan) Price’s ex boyfriend Dane Bowers when head to head with her current squeeze, cage fighter, Alex Reid.

Apparently, this all took place at Katie’s fairytale themed New Year shin dig.

From what we gather, it all started when Dane decided to state the obvious and accuse Alex of cashing in on Katie’s fame!

Pat on the back for Dane methinks…someone had to say it!

Anyways, naturally Alex didn’t take kindly to the accusation and decided to get physical…he threw a punch at Dane!!!!

Instead of throwing a punch back, Dane went on to enrage Alex further by calling Katie a stupid b*tch for allowing Alex to walk all over her and that he (Dane) is her (Katie) only true love!!!

Again…someone had to say it!

How about that Alex??? How many punches does that warrant aye?

To me it looks like round 1 to Dane Bowers….bring on part 2…tee hee.

The last decade in brief!

Let’s try and summarise the decade….

In 2000 there were no IPods and no broadband internet…now – we cannot seem to function without them?????

FYI, almost two thirds of the British population have high speed internet…I mean could you cast your mind back to a time where shopping online at 2am was more a dream than a reality?

The IPod….man’s best friend??
Launched around October 2001…the IPod has become a staple part of our lives.
Whether it’s to ease the strain of a workout in the gym or to help the working day go by quicker, an IPod works for all of us (unless you don’t have on
e)!

As of September 09, the IPod became the best selling digital audio player in history: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPod)

During the last decade, reality television has taken on a life of its own.

From the X Factor through to I’m a Celebrity, reality TV just about covers every aspect of life…

I mean take, Come Dine With Me for example, the idea of 4 random people competing to win some money by cooking for each other and scoring…who would have thought this would be such a popular programme to watch???? (I have to admit, it is QUALITY)!!!!

The last decade also spawned some of the best TV series’…..Lost and The Wire!

TV drama, Lost has been declared, the TV drama event of the decade whilst The Wire became the first box set phenomenon and was heralded as the ‘greatest TV ever made’!!!

Wow, that’s one hell of a title!

Fashion???

What about it…?

Every decade can be defined by fashion in one way or another…take for example the 1960’s…you think Mini’s don’t you? (well some would).

So what fashion would define the ‘Noughties’?

Well…there are a few things that spring to mind, some of them comebacks from previous decades, but ‘Noughties’ fashion defining all the same….

Skinny Jeans

Can’t live without em
!

These have been a standard part of a women’s wardrobe for the last few years and looks set to remain that way.

Whether you’re off to shake a leg or are simply hitting the shops, skinny jeans can wo
rk!

My only word of advice would be: Make sure they fit…builders cracks and muffin tops = not attractive! LOL

Leggings!

OK, so these are a throw back from the 80’s but trust me, they are so versatile and wearer friendly, I think they will continue to throw back forever! HA.

Again, whether you want to jazz them up and go casual…leggings – no problem!
I mean, you can get them in denim material, sequins, regular jersey, patterned….sheeeeesh there’s a pair of leggings for EVERY occa
sion.

Definitely a ‘Noughties’ fashion piece (for the ladies).

What else was hot for the ladies???

Well we had, shoe boots (love em), v
intage and retro….that was and still is hot…oh and sequins…anything that shimmers and glistens….definitely!!!

For the guys…now admittedly this is unfamiliar territory for me, I mean I know what looks great on a guy but whether you want to call it Men’s fashion that defines the ‘Noughties’, I don’t know….

I think tees and tops that had graphic prints and abstract designs (of some sort) has to be one of them.
I mean, we were seeing guys wearing colours that were previously deemed as to camp or girly…it’s great to see a confident guy wear a pink jumper or something not just drab and boring….dontcha think ladies?

Retro tailoring was another biggie…as was the whole stylish Saville Row look….you had guys that clearly did not make nearly enough money to purchase a suit from Saville Row, looking like they had….not a bad thing – it showed not only wanting to be fashionable, but also... pride – guys were taking more pride in their over all appearance! .

From sharp and stylish to urban and trendy Kanye West/P Diddy type attire, the range was wide.

Bling was huuuuuuuuuge (for guys as much as ladies) and hairstyles became more dramatic and unique….think Mohawk!!!!

Hats were big for guys too, from Trilby hats through to Beanies…if you rocked the h
at right – it was a good look!

Phew…that’s a lot of fashion and still the list goes on….

What about celebs of the decade…

Well there are some clear front runners ie. Beyonce, Rihanna, Jay Z, Michael Jackson

Beyonce - You have to give it to this lady, she has worked hard for her success…after leaving Destinys Child, she has gone on to carve out a solo career as arguably one of the hottest females in the music world.

With 2 of the decade’s greatest singles, Crazy In Love (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6HPJJjqvG0) and Single Ladies (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FyHVQT8aIBM)….brand
Beyonce goes from strength to strength.

Rihanna - All I can say on this one is…established!

Rihanna has managed to solidify her position as an A lister…mainly due to the success of the track Umbrella!

Not entirely sure on her direction or if indeed, it is a positive one…but all the same, she has definitely made her mark this decade (more so over the past year or two).

Jay
Z….Speaks for itself and as for Michael Jackson, well….don’t get me started. I think its safe to say, not only has MJ impact the last decade but, the one before that and the one before that too!!!!!!!

I think it is important to note that Brand Beckham (Victoria and David) has taken on a life of its own in the past decade and Simon Cowell….well, even though he never birthed the phenomenon that is reality TV, he most certainly honed it!

Madonna needs to get a mention here due to her consistent tours and track singles as well as the fact that although she is on the other side of 50 she still manages to retain her sex symbol status.

That tog
ether with her high profile marriage and divorce to Guy Ritchie along with the Malawian adoptions and her relationship with a dude half her age…Madonna has to be classed as a celeb of the ‘Noughties’!

Whatta decade….I could go on but my fingers are getting tired and my brain is still slightly frazzled due to the high intake of Jamaican rum and Pineapple…!

Overall, I think it’s safe to say, historians will have a field day when looking back on this decade in years to come…

From the f
ear of terrorism and a war that doesn’t seem to want to end, the capture of an evil dictator, the terrorist attack on the Twin Towers, the London terrorist attack, the Boxing Day Tsunami in Asia several bouts of flu (Swine and bird to name but two), a Black Man in the White House…..what a decade!!!

This decade has also highlighted just how fast news (both good and bad) can travel…with YouTube, Facebook, Myspace and the like, we can always be kept in the loop – there really is no excuse!!!

Well, mankind managed to make it through this one…let’s bring on the next I say!

Whatever your plans, your desires or your destiny…live each day and make it worth it and in the great words of Martin Luther King remember: Whatever your life's work is, do it well. A man should do his job so well that the living, the dead, and the unborn could do it no better.

Peace, love and blessings for the year ahead and beyond…

Sherryl x
